IntellxxDNA Genetic Testing
NCFM uses IntellxxDNA, a genetic testing company. The IntellxxDNA test is a genetic test that provides information about certain gene variants. It does not diagnose disease or predict with certainty whether you will develop a condition. Your provider will discuss whether it is appropriate for you and how your genetic data is stored and shared. Florida law requires your informed consent before genetic testing, and we’ll ask for it in writing.
How it’s used
Your provider reviews results as one of several factors alongside your history, exam and other tests.
Your genetic privacy
The federal Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) limits how health insurers and many employers can use genetic information. It does not cover life, disability or long-term care insurance. Learn more from the National Human Genome Research Institute.
Brand use
NCFM is not affiliated with IntellxxDNA.
Therapies are offered after provider evaluation. Suitability and individual results vary. This information is educational and is not a substitute for advice from your physician.

Sample results
A gene and variant table like those in genetic reports. Example values only.
| Gene | Variant | Example genotype | Sample interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTHFR | C677T (rs1801133) | C/T | Example: one copy of this variant. |
| COMT | Val158Met (rs4680) | G/A | Example: one copy of this variant. |
| APOE | rs429358 / rs7412 | e3/e3 | Example: most common genotype. |
| VDR | Fok1 (rs2228570) | C/C | Example: no copy of this variant. |
Sample interpretation: a variant on its own does not mean a condition is present. Your provider explains what a result may or may not mean alongside your history and other tests.
Example data · not a real patient
Not a real patient. Values are made up for illustration. Ranges vary by lab. Not medical advice and makes no treatment recommendations.

Frequently asked questions
Who orders my tests?
Each test is ordered individually by your provider after an evaluation.
Who explains my results?
Results are interpreted by your provider alongside your history.
Is NCFM affiliated with the laboratory?
No. NCFM is not affiliated with the laboratories it uses.
Is the IntellxxDNA sample collected at home?
Yes. The kit comes by mail. You activate the barcode in the online portal, collect the sample as instructed, and mail it back in the postage-paid mailer.
Does a gene variant mean I have a condition?
No. A gene variant is not a diagnosis. Your provider interprets results together with your history and other tests.
Will my DNA be sold?
IntellxxDNA states that samples are identified by a numeric barcode only and that your DNA will never be sold.
Do I need to repeat the test?
Your genes do not change, so the report usually does not need to be repeated. Your provider can tell you if another report would add anything.
