Nitric Oxide Therapy
Nitric oxide is a molecule your body makes that helps blood vessels relax. NCFM offers nitric oxide–related therapies after a provider evaluation. This page explains the basics; your provider will discuss whether an option is appropriate for you, along with its risks.
What it is
Nitric oxide plays a role in blood flow and blood-vessel function. Research on nitric oxide–related therapies for general wellness is still developing, and results vary. These therapies are not a substitute for treatment of heart disease, blood-pressure problems or other conditions by your physician.
Is it right for me?
Your provider reviews your history, current medications and lab results first. Some medicines, such as nitrates and certain erectile-dysfunction or blood-pressure drugs, may interact with nitric oxide–related products, so tell your provider about everything you take.
What to expect
