What is precision medicine?

Precision medicine is a type of medicine that relies on information about a person’s genes or proteins to prevent, diagnose or treat disease. Unlike traditional medicine that often uses a “one treatment fits all” approach with little customization, precision medicine analyzes the DNA, blood, urine and tissue specific to an individual to provide a personalized diagnostic approach and plan, allowing for patients to be treated according to their unique characteristics.

In October 2022, Naples Center for Functional Medicine physician, Eduardo Maristany, MD, presented at the Florida Association of ACOs conference about precision medicine and its ability to provide better outcomes and revolutionize healthcare.
